How to Use
Your public IP address is detected automatically when you open this page. Scroll down to see detailed browser and device information. All local device information is read directly from your browser — no plugins or extensions needed.
What Is an IP Address?
An IP (Internet Protocol) address is a unique numerical label assigned to your device by your internet service provider. It identifies your device on the internet and is used for routing data. Your public IP address is visible to websites you visit. IPv4 addresses look like 192.168.1.1, while IPv6 uses a longer format like 2001:db8::1.
Common Use Cases
- Checking your public IP address for network troubleshooting.
- Verifying VPN or proxy connection is active.
- Debugging browser compatibility issues with detailed user agent info.
- Checking screen resolution and viewport size for responsive design testing.
- Confirming timezone settings for scheduling and localization.
Tips
- Your IP address changes if you switch networks (Wi-Fi, mobile data, VPN).
- A VPN masks your real IP address and shows the VPN server's IP instead.
- The viewport size may differ from screen resolution due to browser UI elements.
- Hardware concurrency shows the number of logical CPU cores available to the browser.
- If your IP appears different from expected, check if a proxy or corporate firewall is in use.
Privacy
IP address detection uses a single request to api.ipify.org (a minimal, free IP detection service). All other device information is read locally from your browser. No data is stored or shared.
FAQ
Does this tool send my data to a server?
Only the public IP lookup makes a single request to api.ipify.org, which is how a public IP is detected at all. Every other detail — browser, OS, screen, viewport, timezone, CPU cores — is read locally from your browser and is never uploaded or stored.
Why does it show a public IP but not my local (LAN) address?
It reports the public IP that websites see, returned by the IP detection service. Your internal LAN address (like 192.168.x.x) is not exposed to the browser this way, so it cannot be shown here.
Why does my IP look different from what I expected?
A VPN or proxy masks your real IP and shows the server's IP instead, and your IP also changes when you switch networks (Wi-Fi, mobile data). A corporate firewall can route traffic through a shared address as well.
What is the difference between screen resolution and viewport?
Screen resolution is the full size of your display, while the viewport is the visible area inside the browser window. The viewport is usually smaller because of browser UI elements like the address bar and tabs.
What does the CPU cores value represent?
It shows the number of logical CPU cores the browser reports as available (hardware concurrency). It is an indicator of parallel processing capacity, not necessarily the exact physical core count of your machine.
